BeijingHolidayParty.com was founded in 2008 by Brian Gale, who is also the owner of NetworkClub.com and EventsinBeijing.com.
It is specifically founded for helping the migrant kids in Beijing.
Every year, we hold an event for helping those kids by donating them some gifts and supplies during the holiday season. We hope to help at least one new school every year.
Beijing has over 3 million migrant workers and this figure is increased every year. Those workers usually work at a low paid position like constructions, cleaning, vending, security, manufacture, etc. They are the ones that helped Beijing change everyday and keep our "Beijingers" live a regular life. When they bring their kids to Beijing or have kids in Beijing, most of them could not have HUKOU, which means those kids cannot go to regular schools in Beijing without paying a big fee.
For those who do not have the money to pay for their kids, they choose to send their kids to some schools founded by personal which most of them now are still not supported by the local government (ilegal). Those schools usually has very poor quality houses and simple equipments, not to mention the education levels since most of the "teachers" there are families. Just in Beijing, we have about few hundres of schools like this and each school has from 200 to 1,000 kids studing there.
Some of those schools are supported by different charities and fundations, some has no support at all.
The goal of us doing such a thing is to let more and more people know about them and help a little bit from our own. Hope more and more migrant workers and their kids could experience the love from "our Beijingers" and to love Beijing more.
